The processing flow of cold drawn flat steel
Release time: 2025-07-31

After cold processing, steel undergoes certain plastic deformation, and the yield point is significantly increased, that is, the strength and hardness are significantly increased, but the plasticity and toughness are reduced. This phenomenon is called cold processing strengthening (or cold work strengthening) of steel. Cold drawing processing must be completed on specialized cold drawing machines. Let's learn about the processing flow of cold drawn flat steel below.

1. Material processing

Cold drawn products are used in application environments that require high dimensional accuracy of the material. Cold drawing processing can determine the dimensional accuracy and surface brightness of the processed product by selecting the material size. Generally, materials with an outer diameter several millimeters larger than the required product size are selected for processing.

2. Drawing processing

After pre-processing, the raw materials can be subjected to cold drawing processing on a cold drawing machine. In order to reduce the wear and tear of the drawing mold, it is necessary to lubricate the mold during this process. There are generally two methods of lubrication, one is oil lubrication, and the other is lubrication with specialized lubricating materials.

3. Final processing

After drawing, the product still needs to undergo straightening processing, removal of chuck waste processing, cutting to length, rust prevention treatment, and other processes to be considered as the final product. Cold drawn round steel should have a wide range of applications, widely used in hardware accessories, home appliance accessories, processing raw materials, machining, and other fields where hot-rolled flat steel cannot meet the requirements.
